Welcoming XR to the Marylebone Dining Scene

Set in the heart of London, XR is the newest addition to the Marylebone dining scene curated by Chef Carlo Scotto; a name you might recognise in the culinary world. The XR concept was created to offer a more causal version of his formal fine dining menu at Xier; located on the top level. Both XR & Xier are the Chef's first solo ventures and like sister and brother they share the same address on Thayer Street.

XR is open for lunch and dinner, offering dishes that are true to the ingredients sourced from organic farms across the British Isles. The talented chef plays on inspiration to regularly refresh the menu every 2 weeks, paying homage to the British produce of the season.

The dishes offer a unique dining experience complemented by the extensive cocktail and wine list. The Cocktail Bar opens up onto the terrace connecting XR to the streets of the Marylebone, allowing guests to enjoy their cocktails in an outdoor setting in Central London.

To commence our Friday dinner, we ordered the XR signature cocktail and one from the classics, a Bloody Mary. Refreshed from London's warm summer day we starting off with Hands Only menu and dug into the Enoki mushroom truffle arancini and the Crispy squid, chilli, coriander and dill mayo. The flavours are fresh and carry a unique twist in texture and seasoning.

Within the Sea, Land To Taste category we opted for the Beef sliders with lettuce, Gruyere cheese, kewpie mayo and truffle fries. The dish is a teaser of small bites full of deliciousness making you seek for more. Secondly we were served the Burrata cheese with season green vegetables, black olives, and raspberry. A well prepared dish portraying the chef's appreciation to organic and local produce. Both dishes are light and can be enjoyed throughout the day.

For main course we decided to keep with the sea and land theme and taste the Iberico pork 'Pluma' with potato tatin and apple gel and the Hake with sauce vierge, escalivada and beetroot jus. The dishes were both beautiful in taste and presentation offering a complete composition.

XR's dessert menu is skilfully created by their master pastry chef to complement the ever-changing and innovative dishes. There are no shortcomings at XR but a continuation of impeccable presentation and an exquisite mix of ingredients to embody the sweet offerings.

Whether it is a business lunch or a romantic evening for two, XR is up for the challenge and aspires to impress the local neighbourhood of Marylebone and the city as a whole.

  3. It tickles, I give a passage, the tip is passed, the rest follows. This is another first. Tongue against tongue, in my invaded mouth, indulges a delicious fight. My tongue tries to limit the invasion, his slips between cheeks and cheeks, visit the inside of my lips, triggers chills, pushes against mine, slips below, above, goes to the assault of my tonsils, in perpetual motion.
